Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter with a $4 million net worth. Although he is well-known in Africa and the Afrobeat scene, he has also achieved worldwide fame as a result of collaborations with well-known musicians such as Drake. 

After collaborating with other high-profile performers, Wizkid continues to break into the popular music industry. He is one of the most well-known Nigerians of all time, having been the first Nigerian to reach one million Twitter followers. Wizkid has also declared ambitions to establish his own clothing line, as well as lucrative endorsement agreements with big companies like Pepsi.

Early Years:

Wizkid was raised by a Muslim father and a Christian mother in a big household with 12 siblings. Wizkid has been interested in music since he was a child, and some of his early inspirations include Bob Marley and King Sunny Ade. Balogun was up in a Christian home, which influenced his musical interests. As a young lad, he started a musical ensemble with other church buddies.

Career in Music:

Wizkid began making crucial contacts in the music business and learning from renowned artists as early as the age of 15. After graduating from high school, he went to university but subsequently dropped out to pursue a career in music. He later joined with Empire Mates Entertainment, a Nigerian musical company. Wizkid started work on his first album, Superstar, in 2009, while still in his teens. 

The album was well acclaimed when it was released in 2010. For his debut album, Wizkid earned several honors in the Nigerian music industry, including the Next Rated Award in 2011 and Best Album of the Year in 2012.

Following the success of his first album, Wizkid went on tour in London, England, where he had a large following. He played to a sold-out audience at the HMV Apollo in 2012. Empire Mates State of Mind, a compilation album released by Empire Mates Entertainment, will be his next endeavor.

Wizkid visited the United States to promote the album's release, along with other musicians who performed on it. They were also seen in Vancouver and Calgary, both in Canada.

In 2014, Wizkid released his second album, Ayo. The album had been continually postponed since Wizkid started work on it in 2012, but it was a significant step forward since it had a diverse collection of songs with well-known performers such as American rapper Tyga.

Drake delivered the vocals for the remixed version of Wizkid's track "Ojuelegba," which was quickly followed by several collaborations with notable hip-hop musicians. The remix would go on to become the number one song on the Billboard Top 100 and a worldwide sensation. Wizkid and Chris Brown collaborated on another smash tune, "African Bad Gyal," not long after.

Sounds from the Other Side, Wizkid's third album, was released in 2017. Wizkid's previous collaborations with Drake and Chris Brown were included on the album, as well as new tracks featuring well-known artists such as Ty Dolla Sign, Trey Songz, and Major Lazer. 

The song "Come Closer," featuring Drake, was also included on Sounds from the Other Side, along with "One Dance."

Wizkid's music is a mix of popular hip-hop with genres including as afrobeat, dancehall, reggae, and R&B. Wizkid has made a deliberate effort to distinguish himself from popular rappers' hyper-materialistic songs in the past.
