Mahama was the first Minister of State of the Northern Region during President Kwame Nkrumah’s reign and is the younger brother of John Dramani Mahama, the President of Ghana from 2012 to 2017.

He studied engineering at the College of North London. While still living in London, he worked for a property development company. After his return from London in 1997, he pioneered his company Engineers and Planners Ltd.

It is the largest native mining company in West Africa. He is now a prominent Ghanaian businessman owning several other businesses including Dzata Cement Limited which employs over 3000 Ghanaian employees. 

He is also an artist whose lucrative art collection deals with global commerce, value and the debris left from colonialism.

Mahama is best known for his large-scale works made from jute sacks made in Southeast Asia and imported to Ghana. Jute sacks are used in markets to transport goods such as food, coal and charcoal.

Mahama is also invested in Asutsuare Poultry Farms, which he started in 2004. They produce 150,000 eggs and 10,000 live broilers a day. Dzata Cement Limited located in Tema has a production capacity of 2 million tons of cement annually and creates 1,200 direct jobs. 

Mahama won the 2018 African Achievers’ Award for African Industrialist of the year 2018 in London during the 8th edition of African Achievers awards.

He has an estimated net worth of $1.5 Billion. Apart from living lavishly, Mahama is a philanthropist who spends his millions for charity events. He has been recognized for supporting close to 400 Northern and Zongo communities which have been characterized by many as being severely deprived.

His contributions have catered for a multitude in these communities, providing education, employment and healthcare as well as funding projects associated with these communities. He has also built a 550-bed dormitory for his former high school, Tamale Secondary School located in the Northern Region of Ghana, after an unfortunate fire incident that destroyed an existing dormitory.

He also pioneered Joyce Tamakloe Cancer Foundation following the loss of his mother to breast cancer. After her death in 2005 the Cancer Foundation Polo Championship was initiated in memory of Joyce who was a staunch member of the Accra Polo Club.

He advocates for charity causes to create awareness on the various types of cancer, for instance in 2009 when they spoke on the dangers of prostate cancer that is fast spreading in Africa.

As co-founder of the Foundation, he has raised funds for many hospitals in Ghana to contribute to the fight against cancer. The Foundation has availed free mammograms for over 1000 women in Ghana and plays an important role in ensuring breast cancer patients receive treatment under the National Health Insurance.

Despite his loads of money, Ibrahim is not one to post his lifestyle on the socials. Ibrahim however cruises in a Bombardier 604 luxury private jet that he named Dzata.

He was the first individual to ever buy one in Ghana. His has an unknown car collection but has been seen in a 2016 Mercedes Benz GTS AMG sports worth over 150k USD. He is also a lover of motorbikes. Mahama owns a mansion at kawukudi junction.
