Dennis Nana Dwamena was born on August 18, 1993 in Ghana and is better known by his stage name, KiDi. He was conceived by Gerald and Beatrice Thompson in Accra, Ghana. Of his two brothers, Philip and Elliot, he is the oldest. 

He attended St. Anthony's School in Accra before continuing his schooling at Accra Academy for senior high school. He earned a degree in economics and information studies from the University of Ghana.

The lynx entertainment signee is not married, but he has a son named Zane Van Alst from London. Kidi was said to be dating Ghanaian singer Cina Soul in 2020, and many believed she will become Kidi's wife.

Kidi was chosen to give Wendy Shay the "Discovery of the Year award" at the 20th annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Kidi also won the "Best Male Vocal Performer of the Year" award.

Wendy Shay offered KiDi a hug as she climbed onto the stage to receive her prize, but her expression suggested that she was not happy. In the video, Wendy Shay suddenly pouted in an effort to cover her nose after giving Kidi a final hug.

This may have meant one of two things, to be clear. She might have been complaining about KiDi's breath or the fact that she dislikes KiDi.

In other news, Kidi revealed that he lost King Promise's part on the song due to claims that his new song, "Enjoyment," was stolen from Kwamz and Flava.

Kidi stated in an interview with DJ Advicer of Happy FM: "At first, I had someone [King Promise] on the song. However, because of the controversy surrounding the song, his management was forced to take a step back because they did not want their singer to become embroiled in it.

Despite his initial disappointment, KiDi did say that he understood and respected the management's choice for King Promise because any company would protect their artist. KiDi still hopes to work with King Promise, though.

KiDi's Music Career

According to legend, KiDi began composing and writing amazing songs on his own at the age of five, which immediately qualifies him as a prodigy.

His love and enthusiasm for music inspired him to play during his university years in a number of nightclubs and cafes, most notably (Moonlight - Cafe) in Accra, the nation's capital.

Aside from that, he also recorded versions for several popular hit songs that were often broadcast on different radio stations at the time.

After winning the MTN Hitmaker 2015 competition, KiDi broke through to the closed-off music market.

After his incredible track "Say You Love Me" went viral and had an unprecedented amount of radio and television airplay in 2017, KiDi's name became well-known in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
